Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school where 80% of the students are from low-income homes and qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
My students are very unique in their learning.
They are eager to learn every day. They enjoy project-based learning because it helps them learn and show that they can shine.
When students are able to dive into learning and take ownership of their learning, it helps them to retain what they have just learned for years to come, and be able to share it easier with other students or staff.
My Project
My 6th graders are going to start having a STEM club. The different kits: circuits, mazes, sink and float, Newton's Law, and the solar system kits would help students bring their learning to life. They will be able to see first hand how these things work.
These kits would serve a dual process.
They would help my students learn about STEM, while using 6th grade T.E.K.S.
Once students are able to get the kits to work, the next step would be for them to create a STEM project using T.E.K.S. and based off of the kits that were donated to our class.
