Our school is full of activity and excitement for learning that only a child can possess. Each day is full of wonder and new things just waiting to be explored and discovered.
My students are excited to get to school and see what we will learn and do each day.
They are kind to their classmates and seek to encourage each other throughout the day.
I teach in a Title I school in a rural farm community. Our district services a largely free and reduced-price lunch population. While our community is set in a county with high-poverty, these students do not let anything hold them back and look forward to accomplishing great things.
My Project
The resources in my project will allow me to have a more interactive classroom. I am getting the opportunity next year to only teach math and science, and I am excited about making learning meaningful and engaging! I feel students connect more with math and science when they can participate in hands-on activities.
I love to allow my students to investigate and work together to find solutions and this philosophy takes the right kind of resources to execute.

In my math class, I already use many resources and manipulatives to allow math to be hands-on. I would love to incorporate more hands-on activities in my science class. Many of the standards that I am required to teach want the students to discover how to solve problems and create solutions. By having STEM resources such as building blocks and Play-Doh in my classroom, I will be able to have my students think outside the box and create models of their ideas. The marbles and ping pong balls will be used as weights, to show motion, and to be visual representations of objects that are too big or too small to study. I believe students learn more from talking about science. So, these resources will allow my students to work together to become problem solvers.
