Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in a classroom of 19 energetic 4 and 5 years olds. They come to school daily excited and ready to learn. They enjoy Pretending in dramatic play with toy foods and other props. My students love playing games such as Four corners, Bingo and Thumbs up! All of my students have very unique personalities but they blend well making our classroom a warm and inviting place to be.

All of the students have responsibilities in making our classroom fun and safe.

My Project

Using Materials to introduce Stem at an early age will help my students build and use their cognitive abilities. I will use the materials during center play by incorporating at least one STEM material in each center throughout our classroom. I will also use the materials for science and math lessons. My students love to build and with these materials they can learn to love all aspects involved with building and STEM.

A lesson I will use is identifying 2D and 3D shapes; having the students construction the shapes and Identify what the shapes are by name.

Having several other STEM materials other than blocks will also help expand their imagination, cognitive skills and peer interaction. I can't wait to see how excited they will be with the new materials.
