My students are an ambious group of STEM geared kids with hearts of gold! They very much want to spread the word of FIRST Robotics and help other teams.
This is a request for a 3D printer for my robotics team because they would like to take a small portable 3D printer to FIRST Robotics Competitions and help other teams print parts they might not otherwise be able to get.
The students hope to help newer teams and demonstrate graciousness and professionalism in FIRST with this offer of assistance in competition. Some teams will not have access to 3D printers at all at home or in competition, so this might be a real way to reach out and problem solve with innovation on the spot!
This 3D Printer will not only provide hundred's of lessons in using it, but it will also teach students the importance of looking out for others and working collaboratively. This 3D printer will sit in our pit over a 3 day period during competition allowing students that may not have a 3D printer to experience making a needed part for their robot.
FIRST Competitions usually bring in over a thousand students to each district event.
Our students can enjoy the thrill of teaching and the students in need will feel the importance of making good alliances! We say it is a win-win.
We hope to be an example of Gracious Professionalism a tenant of FIRST Robotics by providing this unique learning experience and practical contribution to the success of each competition.
