Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic, smart 5th graders who would benefit from your donations. These students attend a Pre-Kindergarten - 8th-grade school. Our student body is 99% Latino. Our school is located in a low socio-economic, bilingual community. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a Title I school that serves one of the poorest areas in the Los Angeles County. Most of these students are English language learners, many of which also come from disadvantaged homes.
My Project
The donations for this project will improve my classroom by allowing my students to be exposed to engineering and science. The robotics and building kits will allow students to get hands-on experience and be motivated to learn about new careers. STEM activities can teach our students how to problem solve and work collaboratively with their peers. I want to be able to challenge my students and be able to bring out their curiosity. Young children with foundations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics will go on to play an important role in our nation’s global competitiveness. Students deserve to get a head start in preparing for the jobs of the future.
