My students need an OSMO genius kit, supplementary OSMO games, and an additional base to enhance their STEM learning through technology, hands-on activities, and blended learning.
I am honored to be able to work with four beautiful world changers. In my classroom, we tackle big and small challenges and come out victorious!
This year, I teach students in a 3rd-5th grade Autism classroom.
I teach in a rural public school, that also services our local military families. My school is a title one school, where a majority of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Increasing communication and independence is the very heartbeat of my classroom. All of my students require significant supports in language acquisition and social skills. With my low teacher: student ratio, I am able to meet my students' unique needs. As a result of their Autism, my students also require a safe, therapeutic environment that explores their sensory needs, as they push forward on their academics.
Even though I am the teacher, my world is forever impacted by the lessons my students teach me!
My Project
Often, my students work very hard on their daily tasks, with a smile and positive attitude.
Their perseverance has driven my decision to start this project.
Osmo is a learner-led iPad game system that combines physical objects and interactive technology. It fosters student learning in key areas of Reading, Mathematics, Social-Emotional Relationships, Collaborative Team Building, Creative Thinking, Coding, and STEM. My students thrive when they are able to engage in hands-on activities. Each and every day, they must endure processing difficulties and communication challenges. Visual supports and physical object manipulatives are often used to increase understanding in our academics, communication, and everyday life skills. Students with Autism respond well to technology programs like Osmo because of their consistent, predictable ways.
Being able to use the interactive Osmo technology will not only help launch my students into our STEM endeavors and Blended Learning adventure, but will help facilitate active learning for all of my students. We are ready for liftoff into the wonderful world of OSMO!
