My students need STEM materials of various levels for our Makerspace.

My Students

My students live in one of the most impoverished counties in Tennessee as well as the United States. My students live in a very isolated area that has few job opportunities for their families. My students love to read and learn new things. They enjoy learning new things in new ways.

Hands-on learning is one of the most effective well received approaches with my students.

Limited resources in our community also is a problem for my students and their families.

My Project

STEM Materials will be utilized by student's in grades kindergarten through 5th grade. These materials will be incorporated into students weekly visit to the Library Media Center.

These science materials will be used to provide a coherent set of inquiry-based investigations leading to development of core science principles and concepts.

Students will be able look forward to learning science together instead of reading about science. These science materials will stimulate interest in science and lead to enduring science learning experiences and understanding of the natural world. Literature based activities will be paired with the STEM materials to make cross curricular connections when appropriate.
