Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Teachers who love teaching, teach children who love learning." As I enter my 20th year of teaching, I continue to follow this mantra in my classroom. I teach 28 wonderful students who come from poverty. My students are from varying ethnic backgrounds. Most of them come from homes that are struggling financially.
My students are extremely motivated, and they are genuinely respectful to each other.
They are lovers of learning, and I am truly grateful to be their teacher this year. They come to school with smiles on their faces, and they are eager to learn. We need materials to use in our literacy centers.
My Project
First grade is such an important and exciting year in a child's life. It is the year that the students will not only learn to read, but they will learn to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. Research shows that students in the primary grades learn best by exploring and interacting with others. We will use these materials during our math centers, indoor recess, and science time. These materials will allow my students to work with each other and build projects together. These centers are designed to engage my students in their learning, and at the same time allow them to work together and have fun.
We need fun and engaging materials to use for STEM projects to encourage independent thinking and problem solving.
The students will use the magnetic pattern blocks to create different things such as houses, robots, and flowers. The students will use the architect design blocks to build different structures such as bridges and houses. These materials will encourage critical thinking and problem solving in my students.
