Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in a Title I suburban school. They have a great quest for learning, and a love for all things technological. These students want to learn more about robotics, coding, and building to solve real- world problems. This year, we are introducing new curriculum to support learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
My students are inquisitive, resourceful, and inventive.
We want to provide a creative outlet for their energy and ideas. This project will afford them the opportunity to build real-world problem solving skills, practice team work, and promote creativity.
My Project
As we build our STEM program, the building and robotics materials will provide students with hands on experience in planning, building, and programming using basic Legos in combination with Lego WeDo. They will use the Lego Chain Reactions kit to decode physics questions and test their problem-solving skills. Students in grades K-8 will be able to engage with Makey Makey and Little Bits to solve real world questions and build confidence in themselves and each other. Students will learn skills in not only science, technology, engineering, and math, but also in patience, perseverance, and persistence.
Students will think critically, creatively, and collaboratively to design and construct real moving, functional, and recyclable gadgets, robots, and everyday items.
The sky is the limit and I am confident my students' creativity will soar beyond my wildest dreams!
