I proudly teach second grade in a public school located Memphis , Tennessee! I teach in one of the largest school districts in Tennessee. My beautiful classroom is filled with 7-8 year olds who are excited about learning and life. Our individual classroom is special because I have an inclusion class. This means that I have students with varying levels of ability, from Kinder all the way to 5th grade! My classroom is my family away from home and I cannot wait to see how they will grow through the use of this project.
My Project
When our project is fully funded my students will have the materials necessary to prepare them for occupations in the future. The students in my class will be able to explore STEM projects by working together in teams to build structures. The classroom will also benefit from learning how to work together as a team to accomplish a common goal.
My "STEMtastic" second grade students will use the Magna-Tiles, Building Bricks, Geometric Shapes kit, Building Brick Stem Challenge kit, Crystal Climbers and Playstix to create and explore STEM projects in our classroom.
The students will use the clip boards to write down observations and results during and after their project is built. The one minute timer will be used as a visual tool for the students to allow them time to brainstorm with their team members about how they will complete their STEM project.I will use the ten minute timer as a challenge tool for the students to complete their STEM project in the allotted time frame. I will use the 6 large tuff totes to store all of our new materials so they will stay organized and protected throughout the year.
