My students are very active and love to learn. Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical".
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me.
I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire every student I have to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
I am asking for a variety of STEM resources including marble run materials and PicassoTiles Magnet Building Tiles and Building Blocks Construction Playboards. These materials will broaden my students understanding of how materials are used for different STEM explorations.
With the fulfillment of this project, my students will have fun while they are actually learning.
Students will use the carts to make push and pull systems for our science kits. They will also make a structure out of magna-tile. Then students will test the durability of the structure they made when adding weight. They will use the scientific process while doing this. Students will use these materials for many different year. With these materials, the possibilities are endless.
