My students need an optical light bench, bottle rocket launcher , a radio kit, and other supplies to complete STEM labs associated with light, rocketry, and electronics.
Do you remember the excitement associated with hands-on labs at school? My STEM lab students are interested in activities focusing on light, electronics, and rocketry.
Students attend a public middle school in California.
They are all enrolled in a STEM education course where they complete hands-on activities focused on science, technology, engineering, and math. The students enjoy being able to learn about these fields and explore areas that they have not investigated before.
My Project
These resources will allow students to complete several hands-on activities. A light bench with lenses, mirrors, and color paddles will help teach students about the properties of light. The bottle rocket launcher will allow students to learn about Newton's Laws as their rockets shoot up in the air. A solar powered car and AM/FM radio kit will allow students to explore the world of electronics. Each of these topics will bring something new and exciting to the STEM classroom.
Having hands-on activities are essential to getting kids excited about STEM fields, especially for those who may have written off science and math in the past.
By having these supplies in the lab, many students will get to experience science in ways that they never have before.
