This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are one big, happy family. Our Title I school is home to a large population (92%) of English language learners. My students face many challenges while living in a new country and attempting to learn a new language.
My three classes are filled with 75 eager students who love working together to complete various tasks.
My goal is to make their transition as smooth as possible in hopes of preparing them for great achievement. They are capable of greatness and will achieve.
My Project
I am excited about the new school year and all of the new lessons to teach and learn. After attending the Pathfinders Summer Institute hosted by Infosys Foundation USA, I am eager and excited to assist my students with creating a makerspace lab where they will be able to make and create beyond their wildest dreams. Teachers will be trained and encouraged to integrate makerspace materials and creativity into their lessons to allow students to connect real-world experiences to what the are learning. Our lab is in need of a Cricut Maker, to cut wood, vinyl, and cardboard to create paper mechatronics. Students also need double-sided tape, a heat press and batteries to be creative and make various machines and STEM-related devices. Students will use the heat press to add vinyl to their shirts, the Cricut maker will cut wood, vinyl, sticker paper to create papermechatronic models.
