Help me give my students technology we need to do some awesome projects for STEM this year . Raspberry Pi, a quad-copter for overhead panoramic videos, a solar kit, and a webcam to monitor our 3D printers
We are starting STEM program at our elementary school. These awesome fifth grade students are excited to have opportunities to learn coding, robotics, 3-D printing and all aspects of engineering and design this year!
These 5th grade students are truly excited to have the opportunity to learn skills that will so heavily influence and benefit their futures!
Even though we are starting with 5th grade, the 3rd and 4th graders will have the opportunity to use these resources as well!
My Project
We are creating a STEM lab full of technological resources that students can use in standard aligned lessons. Having these tech pieces will be extremely beneficial in our lab. Raspberry Pi for many miscellaneous tech endeavors, a quad-copter for overhead panoramic videos, a solar set to teach students about renewable energy, and a webcam so we can monitor our 3-D printers at work from our classroom!
Students will utilize new technology in science standard aligned lessons, and STEM learning will expose students to technology they may not otherwise have the chance to experience, with the goal of inspiring them to explore career paths in science, technology and engineering.
Examples would be the need to monitor our 3-D printing from the classroom Smart board throughout the day (as it takes hours), or having students using a drone camera connected to their tablets to take photos and create videos from the sky! We have a renewable energy center where students can power different objects with solar and wind.
Giving students the opportunity to utilize new technology in science standard aligned lessons will not only expose them to technology they may have no other opportunity to ever use, but inspire their interests in science, math, technology and engineering career paths.
