Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students at our wonderful rural school come from various backgrounds, but the majority are English Language Learners. Many of our students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch, making us a Title I school.

Most importantly, our school is filled with Preschool to 5th grade students who are eager to learn, and crave experiences provided in our new STEM lab.

They love engineering challenges and don't always get to work with STEM materials after leaving our school building. They are eager to explore many of the concepts covered in the science, math, engineering, and technology curriculum using hands-on materials.

My Project

There is no doubt, giving students the opportunity to share their learning through video recording has many benefits. Students build confidence and valuable communication skills. However, many students feel uncomfortable making recordings in a classroom filled with their peers. Mini DIY recording boxes help change this dynamic!

The crates and sound proofing foam will allow us to create mini sound studios that will enable students to record their voices with confidence!

Placing their device inside the private box not only amplifies and perfects the sound itself (cancelling out the noise of the STEM lab), but it also gives students a sense of privacy and professionalism.
