This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The elementary school students at my school are unlike students anywhere else in the world. They are uniquely wonderful in all aspects of their being. They attend a Title I school in a rural area of North Carolina. In the past year, our school has implemented an intervention block, club day, and AVID, broadening our student experiences and creating new and exciting learning opportunities. Our goals this year are especially targeted on closing the achievement gap through access to materials and resources.
My Project
I would like to create a STEM Lab for elementary students at my school. The resources that I am requesting will serve as guides to help me and my team development foundations and fundamentals for the lab as well as best practices. These resources will benefit my students by helping to create an enrichment/extension program that will aid to enrich Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematically literacy and to engage their own creativity. I will apply what I learn to create a STEM Lab that is engaging, accessible, and aligned to core curricular concepts and hopefully share best practices through state and district PLCs.
