This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is located in a low-income neighborhood with scholars from diverse backgrounds. Over 75% of the population qualifies for free school meals.
Despite socioeconomic disadvantages, our melting pot of scholars possess a positive outlook on learning.
Our scholars are eager to learn and deserve to have high quality experiences and educational resources. STEM (also known as STEAM in our classroom) is a great way to challenge scholars while nurturing problem solving and group skills.
Being that we are a Title I school it’s often a challenge to find funding to purchase STEM related materials and resources. Our scholars deserve to be exposed to the same STEM experiences which can shape their future college and career choices.
My Project
The Inventor STEM kits we look forward to receiving will allow scholars to think critically, problem solve, work with peers, and engage in hands-on learning. Scholars will explore motorized machines, roller coasters, simple machines and amusement parks which reflect the real world around us.
This will allow scholars to have insight on how engineers create and design, while also allowing scholars to develop a deeper understanding of how machines work.
Scholars will become engineers and be allowed to work in groups or independently. Task cards and questions will be assigned with each session of STEM time.
These kits will allow scholars to become engineers, while exploring critical thinking. Please support our classroom !
