Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can you remember the last time you cheered with excitement and laughter when you learned something new? Well, my students cheer with enthusiasm when I tell them about a new, creative activity/ project we are doing. They are super eager to learn!
They truly love hands-on, interactive, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box!
They arrive each day ready to tackle their learning in order to reach their goals they have set for themselves. Students work cooperatively to help support their friends in reading their personal and academic goals.
All the students have a passion for learning in their way. Some may be motivated by innovative ideas using technology, others by using creativity with the Arts, and other learning styles as well.
I am very blessed to have this group of students that inspire me to create projects to bring innovation into our classroom.
My Project
This project is a 2nd part of a S.T.E.M. experience I'd love to give to students. The first part of the project was LEGO WeDo kits that focus on engineering and science in a creative and project- based experience.
This 2nd and critical part of the experience is asking for an iPad for students to engineer the robots they have created from the Lego WeDo sets.
Learners would use the iPad to problem solve in coding to determine the functions that are available for each robot. They will program the motors to create different inputs by using drag and drop software on the iPad. The versatility offers the learners a range of documented models to design or they can also build their own inventions, which creates for endless possibilities.
