My students need tools and manipulatives to enhance their education in the four disciplines of (STEM) science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
I teach 20 active and unique 3-5 year old children. In my classroom, we have unique children who learn by different methods. All of the children love to get messy and learn with sensory play. The children in my class love to explore, investigate, and discover. Our curriculum is focused around hands-on learning and play based learning to meet the needs of our class.
"Head Start promotes school readiness for children, ages birth to five, in low income families by offering educational, nutritional, health, social, and other services.
Head Start programs enhance the social and cognitive development of children and actively engage families in their children's learning so that children will be successful in kindergarten."
My Project
My students will use the tools and manipulatives purchased to build, investigate, and learn. Right now, many of our students are not attracted to our math or science center. Manipulatives purchased will add excitement to our math and science centers where students will be able to enhance their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
With these tools, the children in my class will be given the hands-on learning experiences they need to design, build, and explore.
The Mystery Capsules, Magna-Tiles, and Magnetic Wonder Window will be added to our science center. The Magnetic Pattern Blocks, Counting Cars, and Unlock It! Number Match will be added to our math center.
We hope this project will add excitement and encourage our students to play and learn at our math and science centers, where they will be able to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills along with the academic skills needed to prepare them for kindergarten.
