This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This year I am team teaching 5th grade optional and working closely with my fellow fifth grade teachers.
We are a school that is trying to bring back the arts in every day learning.
The students and teachers work hard to bring arts in to our every day learning. We work with not only drawing, but in creating songs, writing music, designing buildings, ETC. We are a title 1 school with 100% free lunch.
We need your help. We are in an urban area with very little prospects for the future. We are working to change that and want your help.
My Project
All items listed are STEM based activities. These include kits to be built by students, drones for students to fly (Along with battery packs so multiple students can use these), and programmable bots so that my students will be able to practice coding.
This past week my principal mentioned she wanted to bring in more STEM activities to our classrooms, so I spoke with my students and trying to stay under $400 these are the items we came up with to help their learning.
Some of the items have been requested with multiples so that my students will be able to use these together. I am hoping my students will fall in love with STEM like they have the arts and make a good choice for their career, by choosing the right middle school from them.
The Sphero, mini drones, and bit coding robot will all be used to teach my students the basics of coding. This will help not only with learning to code but in chronological order for writing. I’ve also included a bridge building kit to help my students not only understand engineering but cause and effect skills and relating these to the real world. The final item is an extra set of battery packs for the drones so the drones can be used over a longer period.
