This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a free public charter school that serves children who live in a district that is classified as low income, with all children receiving free breakfast and lunch. The background of students in this school is widely varied. Students look forward to working with technology each day!
We are consistently working to improve educational opportunities and variety of experiences each year!
Our smaller environment helps many students to thrive. Many of their experiences this year were brand new to them, and we want to continue to grow the program!
My Project
These STEM resources will help to expand our small STEM area in the technology program. These resources provide hundreds of hands on activities for students related to many areas of science, technology, engineering, and math! The topics include building bridges, understanding the forces of earth, weather, and more! Currently we have roughly 20 options and expanding those options this year is a goal. These resources will greatly speed up that process! Students regularly choose projects that are related to technology and work on them during each class. Once completing the project of their choosing, they submit a report on how it went, what they learned, and what they would do with the information. The supplies also include magnetic blocks and a kit to put together molecules. Last year when discussing atoms and learning about molecules, a hands on model would have helped their understanding greatly. This kit would enable a hands on model of many molecules! The linking blocks and magnetic blocks will be used for their engineering projects.
These resources will expand our STEM area greatly!
Students will be able to choose projects that interest them more easily instead of the limited choices they have now. Thank you for considering our project!
