This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am currently a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, where many of my students face many different challenges both in and out of school. Despite the challenges they face, I want my students to come to a classroom that they love to be in and have fun in every day. I am probably the first smile or hug that some of my students receive in a day.
My students are creative and love to challenge themselves daily.
They are so smart and I make sure to tell them so. Their favorite time of the day is during center time where they get to explore different activities and challenge themselves on their own. Many people may think that because of where my students live or their parents income, that they are behind other students who live "better" lives. However, no matter where my students come from or what type of home they live in, I make sure that they know their potential and get to experience life in my classroom!
My Project
Truthfully, any donation of any educational products is always a blessing in my book. However, I know that the application of touchscreen computers and durable headphones in my classroom will be a great improvement over the technology that is currently provided. I'm hoping to make my classroom the STEM classroom for Kindergarten. Being able to provide the students with extra technology and magnetic blocks/play doh will help them build their imagination and spacial thinking. The students will use these materials for special projects and center time.
These donations would allow my classroom to excel in STEM and provide my students with experiences they usually wouldn't receive at home.
I want to be able to provide my students with the best in order to allow their minds and personalities to grow. They are amazing kids and I love to see them grow in my classroom emotionally and academically. Thank you!
