My Students

I teach in a school that is considered "highest-poverty." One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. They come from a variety of backgrounds and many of my students have faced incredibly difficult challenges that make it hard to focus at school. My class is a high-energy group of seven and eight year olds who are full of potential! I have seen them do and create incredible things from biographies of Martin Luther King, to well-crafted graphs of data they collected themselves. These kids are worth every bit of my attention and energy! They just happen to be growing up in a low-income area of Idaho.

My Project

These building sets will allow my students to push their spacial reasoning skills to the limit and will give them a space and opportunity to work creatively on building those skills. Obtaining sets like this for the classroom will also create opportunities for students to learn to work collaboratively on a project.

As a young mathematician, your best indicator of success is competence in spacial awareness.

Further, the butterfly kit will allow us a real-life look at the wonder that is its life cycle. I can't wait to watch my students experience the changes as they happen in real time!
