My students need materials to plan, engage, and build using a magnetic building set, an architecture set, and a mobile organizer that the children can access and use to create amazing things!
Every child is one caring adult away from a success story. I have twenty awesome preschoolers who love to laugh, play, learn, and of course, ask questions. The early years of school are the building blocks for learning. All of my students come from low income families, and for almost half of them, English is a second language. For this reason, it is essential that I provide a secure, fun, and loving environment that will develop their lifelong love of learning.
My Project
STEM gives students the opportunity to be creative, problem-solve, develop math concepts, develop eye-hand coordination, and develop inquiry skills. Preschoolers are hands-on learners, so when they are building with the crazy shape magnetic blocks, they can feel the geometric shapes. With the design blocks, my students will be learning about spatial awareness and direction. A marble run will help teach them about hypothesis and scientific reasoning. Building materials encourage students to interact and work together to problem-solve, imagine and create. Through open-ended play and exploration with the craft noodles, modeling foam, and cubes my preschoolers will have a chance to make their own designs and create something new. When students are building, they are engineers planning, designing, and creating awesome things! The possibilities are limitless!
Having an environment where children can use materials to be active and engaged and take initiative in their learning, promotes academic success.
This will all be organized, labeled, and ready for the students to use in the mobile storage unit. Preschoolers learn through experiences and hands-on activities; having these items will help them build a foundation for future learning.
