My Students

All students can learn given the proper resources and opportunities. Our class consists of 7th and 8th-grade students with special needs struggling to learn math and science. They are picking up on the concepts but struggle with mathematical operations in order to fully access the general education curriculum. Their learning disabilities have put them at a disadvantage and they need and deserve more resources to allow them to grow. They truly desire to succeed and with your help and mine, they can.

My Project

These calculators will assist my current and future students with their understanding of math and science. The students get stuck on many of the single and multi-step problems because they wrestle with the calculations. Each student in the class has learning disabilities that make it more difficult to think about what calculation they have to make and then to do the operation in a logical process. If they do not have to worry about the calculation, they can concentrate on the process and increase their ability to do more complex problems. Students will use calculators in high school and it will help them to have and learn how to use them before they get there.
