Mr. Haley from Washington DC is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the tablets, tablet cases, a microscope, a Dell laptop and soil classes for our inquiry-based science lessons.

"I learn by thinking, questioning, creating, collaborating, solving, and reflecting". A typical day begins with a hands-on approach to the lesson, and turn and talk discussions. By the end of the school year, I want my students to be able to solve and present inquiry-based problems to their peers.
The current enrollment at my school is 478 with 100% on free and reduced lunch.
Through work and play, my students discover their potential, embracing diversity and benefiting from strong relationships with staff, parents, and volunteers. My school is committed to providing inquiry-based learning experiences that enhance students' growth and development. At my school, each classroom is responsible for STEM education. STEM goes above and beyond possessing the regular curriculum. STEM affords each student a more personalized learning experience, meaning increased student control over the time, and/or pace of his or her learning. Therefore, my students will greatly benefit from tablets, digital tablet cases, a microscope, dell computer, and STEM labs.
The goal of this project is to promote awareness about STEM and different career opportunities in STEM. My students will conduct live demonstrations with the STEM Lab Kits for the entire school community. The STEM kits will provide a foundation for the students. The students will use the tablets to download and upload video files pertaining for the STEM demonstrations. The cases will be used for protection to prevent from cracking and breaking. My students will use the dell computer to conduct virtual STEM labs, create STEM presentations and videos, STEM newsletter, and write lab summary reports. The students will use the microscope to view soil samples, plant cells, and animals cells. This year, I have built a STEM program at my school to get students to become interested in science, technology, engineering, and math. With the requested materials, my students will have greater access to STEM resources.
The students are not exposed to opportunities which will prepare them for college and compete for jobs that African Americans are not represented in such as STEM fields.
In the area of science, mathematics, and engineering you see few African Americans and especially women. I believe this project will help build a STEM program in an urban public school and expose students to new career fields and opportunities.
