My students need STEM guided reading books. That way I can reach their individual reading levels in small groups, as well as cover math and science curriculum in reading.

My Students

I teach the low reading groups in 2nd grade. My students do not have enough texts at their instructional levels. It is vitally important that I expose them to texts that at at their levels, and cross the curriculum in reading and math. Many of my students connect to the STEM topics and get excited!

My students are excited, passionate learners.

They come from a vast variety of backgrounds. We have many students who come from struggling families, who do not have books at home. Giving them an opportunity to see math and science at their reading levels, would be huge! Our science curriculum is far above many of the students that I am teaching to read.

My Project

My students will use these books daily in a small group setting. They will read independently with me, to each other, and in small groups. They will be exposed to math and science during reading, which they are not able to do now with the curriculum I have.

This donation would be a big deal at our school and in the lives of the kids in my room.

Many of my kids are in love with math and science, but do not love the stories that I have to expose them to in guided reading. This will help excite them and get them much more willing to engage with me each day, while reading.
