This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I am assembling a portable light box for my early childhood students to learn on. The glow of the light box will attract my students to build creations with the bright see-through magnet blocks. The light box will also encourage the students to count with the manipulative blocks while matching to the corresponding number shapes. I will be able to teach one-to-one correspondence and make simple equations to solve with the students.
The glow from the light box will encourage my students to want to learn STEM concepts in a bright way.
Using the numbers and letters with the blocks will teach reading and math skills during STEM building activities. The assembly will include a plastic clear box lined with foil that the LED lights are put in. The heavy duty lid to the box acts as the glowing table top for learning. The box can store all the blocks and manipulatives. I know there will be creative STEM learning and critical thinking happening when the light box is used.
