Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are wonderful! They all come from an urban setting and from low-income homes. The entire school receives free breakfast and lunch. The school is a wonderful school that was built as a neighborhood school, and is truly a hub of the neighborhood in the middle of a large city.

Students may come from homes with limited resources, but they more than make up for it with their willingness to learn and excitement for school.

I love becoming partners with their families throughout the year, and helping them all start off their journey through education and into life.

My Project

Young children are naturally curious and always trying to figure out how things work! They need open-ended toys that they can use in a variety of ways for problem solving. These toys will get our creativity and problem solving skills flowing!

Figuring out problems that are tricky for the brain helps expand our thinking.

Children need to be challenged and their thinking stretched in order to learn. Geostix help us problem solve how shapes are made, to learn about straight and curved lines, and to recognize the attributes of shapes. The Picasso Tile marble run will allow us to create complex tracks and challenge our thinking about physics in a playful way. We would also love some colorful paper to help us design our structures and visualize our plans before building! Thank you for any help you can give.
