My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who is ready to play?" They reply, "We are!" We play to learn and I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
Young children are avid STEM investigators, eager to explore and invent.
Leading economists concur that high-quality early education makes dollars and sense; an analysis of the economic impact of the Apalachicola Pre-K program showed a 7% to 10% per year return on investment based on increased school and career achievement.
I teach at a Title I school in Florida where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
My students are very active 4-5 year olds with active imaginations. We are asking for materials that will help us use and benefit their active imaginations. We are looking to add Lego's and Lego Figurines to our Lego center. We are also looking to add x-rays to our light tables. STEM toys come in all shapes and sizes but the idea is the same engaging students to learn and play at the same time. Students at this age play to learn with hands on activities. If a child feels success in Pre-K it sets the tone for their educational career. Thank you for taking the time to help my students become successful.
