My school serves around 450 preschool-5th grade students. My school is unique in the fact that we serve deaf/hard of hearing students, students with special needs, English language learners, and low poverty inner-city students.
Our school is a safe and loving environment that is welcoming to students with diverse needs.
Some of our students travel from all over the city to come to our program because we offer speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, audiologists, counselors, and psychologists. Our school is a place where students can feel at home due to the love and support from our staff.
My Project
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are four areas where students can learn to problem solve, be creative, and work as a team. The stand-up magnetic center will allow students to use the magnetic sets while standing up. The engineer-a-coaster teaches students through trial and error how the track position affects the disk as it rolls and falls from track to track and into the goal box! The turn and learn set allows students to put together their own spectacular, spinning show! The interchangeable pieces slide together easily for no-fail designing to create colorful motion. The create-a-path set allows students to build, test, and reconfigure a variety of pathways!
Students can problem solve and work together with the ramps and balls exploration set!
Students can build, test, and experiment with the different ramps and balls. They will develop critical thinking skills when putting different combinations together such as higher vs lower, longer vs shorter, and up vs down. The design and build center will allow students to build bridges, vehicles and houses. These centers teach kids to look closer at real-life designs and make original structures that use the same important elements. These centers can be done by students independently for open-ended building!
