My students need new STEM supplies. The supplies include an earthquake kit, a windmill kit and a USB document camera. The remaining supplies, including place value flip books and fraction tiles, will enhance math instruction.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My twenty-three students are eager to tackle each day the best they can. They come in with smiles on their faces as I shake their hands and leave just as happy. I want to do my best and make them worthy citizens to go off into the world. With that being said, I need your help.
It's wonderful being a part of such a diverse classroom and school.
Over half my class goes home and speaks another language. Having so many ESL students allows me to learn about different cultural backgrounds each day. One of my most rewarding experiences was teaching students from the New Arrivals math program. These students just came to America and were learning English along with math skills. In addition, about 65% of my school qualifies for free and reduced lunch, so they don't have the chance to buy new supplies on their own, and our school is very limited on funds.
My Project
All students love science and STEM experiments. These supplies will allow students to explore real life challenges, such as developing a building to withstand an earthquake and designing a working windmill.
Students will also benefit from explaining their thinking under a document camera.
The camera allows students to show their work under it, and it projects the visual to the entire class. Besides science materials, students will benefit from math manipulatives like fraction tiles and place value flip books. Fractions are a big struggle in fourth grade, but working with fraction tiles helps students to make comparisons and add and subtract fractions.
