STEM Flight Simulator to Engage Middle School Students

My Students

Our middle school is very unique in that we have roughly 1,000 students. Our school encompasses a 70% percentage of minority students who come from varying home backgrounds.

I teach at Title I middle school where we have a student percentage of 80% who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

Our diverse environment makes for an enriching learning space where students can be swayed with positive persuasion to read more independent books and utilize STEM tools for educational enjoyment. I hope to build on this enrichment with the purchase of more eye-catching library books, audiobooks, and STEM resources!

My Project

This STEM flight simulator will make a huge difference in our students' learning, as it is a perfect fit for our unique Media Center model revolving around literary and technology exploration. Right away, it will expose kids to simulation specific games, which are different from what most kids are used to, which are role-playing games. This educationally grounded technology will get students to think about flight and all that goes into successfully operating an airplane.

The included flight simulator educational curriculum & lesson plan bundles, with adjoining extensions that can be learned at home, will help guide both the teacher & student so that there are directed skills to be learned about aeronautical science and the overall joy of flight.

I'm very excited about the prospect of including this attractive piece of technology in our Media Center. It will be an eye-catcher and it surely will get kids to start thinking about a possible career in aviation as they progress through their school-aged years.
