Our school is K-8th grade and located on the north side of Milwaukee. Most of my students come from low income households and do not have the means to explore and be exposed to new ideas. Many of my students need extra support to stay on task and follow directions.
My students are very excited about learning and full of energy.
They enjoy being challenged and trying new things. They love to participate in small group projects and to take ownership for their work. My students become more independent as the year goes on and lead small groups or the whole group! My students are great helpers and are very compassionate towards others.
This year my class will be working on a project for the STEM fair in the district. We will be creating different structures out of paper to test what holds the most amount of picture books. The students will need to create their own journals using construction paper to document their plans and ideas.
When students have their own materials, they are more engaged in the learning process.
The students will be able to use the clipboards to work in their own space around the classroom to document their structures. Some of the construction paper will be used to create the journals for the students as well as the science fair presentation board.
