My Project

Teaching students how to tinker and explore is a passion of mine.

In fifth grade students either choose to continue to tinker and makes mistakes as they explore or, they decide they don't want to take this risk anymore.

It is my job to teach them that it is okay to make mistakes and that those mistakes lead to learning.

STEM challenges are one of the best ways to teach students to persevere, tinker, create and explore knowing that they might fail. Knowing that they might not be the best, YET. When students are given multiple opportunities to challenge themselves while solving STEM problems, they begin to learn from their mistakes and to make mistakes more freely.

With the funding of this project, I will be able to get SNAP Circuits sets for my students to build circuits. I will also be able to get magnet sets for students to solve many magnet STEM challenges. They will learn about things like levitation and polarity of magnets as they solve everyday problems. Students will also get to experiment with bioluminescence. A cool phenomena of science with kit included in this project.

I can't wait to help my student problem solve as they tinker, create, fail and try again and again. Thank you for helping me help my students learn to make mistakes gracefully.
