STEM Exploration:Block Play with Simple Machines

My students need the ramps and balls exploration set to add onto our existing collection of blocks. We would also love to have the simple machines and arch block sets to expand our STEM toys.

My Students

In my kindergarten classroom, every student is part of a caring and growing community. Despite the young ages of my students, our motto is WE CAN. We never say WE CAN"T. We keep on trying until we figure it out. We are constantly building, exercising and making the muscles in our body stronger through hands on learning. We focus on finding the greatness in each other and share that with our class. My kiddos are able to do amazing things despite their ability level because we create an environment of I CAN. We may struggle along the way but we support each other and keep on trying.We are a KINDERGARDEN...growing all year long and beyond!

My Project

My kiddos love to build with all different kinds of materials. Little cups, popsicle sticks, note cards, clay, small food items and seasonal objects.

I would like to add onto our block play with the purchase of specialized block sets that would help us build with simple machines such as pulleys, wedges, and screws.

Kids would get to see how simple machines make work easier. My students would get a hands-on experience with cause and effect as they raise and lower objects on an elevator. move blocks on a conveyor belt and more. They will gain insight into how full size machines make big jobs easier. The kids would also be able to create their own structures and try new things with these block sets.
