My students need a portable PA system, a rolling whiteboard, an iPad, poster board, scissors, answer buzzers and dots to prepare and present their expert STEM projects.
"Don't be immoral, save the coral!" This inspiring quote was said by one of my 6th graders as we are studying how to save and protect this natural living beauty. My students are discovering Oceanography this semester, I am requesting materials needed to prepare and present their expert STEM projects
My students live in the state of Hawaii, where we are teaching them to be community citizens who take care of their environment and our ocean.
Our charter school's fifty 5th and 6th grade students love to explore and learn new things through hands-on, engaging activities. The students are brave presenters who share their knowledge at whole school assemblies and with parents and families during Curriculum Shares. They create, analyze, and evaluate to develop projects that showcase their learning. They are not afraid to speak about what they have learned, and how they have enjoyed the process along the way. They are scholars who take charge of their learning and are not afraid of attempting challenging tasks. At our school we take advantage of Hawaii's beautiful climate and try to learn outdoors as much as possible. Our students also crave learning about and being introduced to career opportunities that are not commonly known.
My Project
This semester the students are discovering Oceanography through hands-on lessons and interactive activities. The students will use the iPad, posterboards, and scissors to create their projects. They will use the rolling whiteboard, portable PA system, answer buzzers and dots to present their projects. Their ideas will be shared among the student and family population of our school.
Global change starts small, at home, with children, in bite-sized chunks.
This project will give 50 students ages ten, eleven, and twelve the foundation to forever impact our world for the better. They will learn practical ways to help sustain our environment, protect our ocean, and give back to our local community. The students will gain knowledge and skills to aid their efforts. They will become Marine Conservationists through this project.
