My kids are absolutely incredible. They come from extremely diverse backgrounds, work so hard in and out of school to prepare for their futures, and love their community. Specifically, the students this project would be helping are in high school and could use more easily-accessible technology in their classrooms.
The students I serve are some of the top performing students in our state, yet due to allotment of state funding rules we don't get as much funding as we'd like.
Helping us complete this goal would totally change the types of learning they are able to complete in our upper level school.
My Project
Each and every student at my school dedicates hours upon hours of their high school career to studying for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. My dream is to have high achieving students and faculty created videos of them solving difficult math and science questions that can be used by our entire student body for test prep.
Together we will use our iPad to download apps to make this dream a reality.
It is truly through the funding of this project that we can take our test preparation from impacting a few kids to impacting all kids. Additionally, these videos will help our students who cannot afford traditional testing tutors.
Thinking ahead to the potential of this technology, I can see students gaining not only math knowledge, but those who are creating the videos will learn math, science, video editing and many other skills. All of this pushes my classroom into the modern era and could eventually even lead to more in depth video/photo editing knowledge being obtained in addition to the invaluable test prep.
