My students need 2 ipads to create a computer programming center in our classroom.

Technology is what kids are into these days. Everyone knows it but not everyone "gets" it. I do. I have 30 smart 4th graders who want to be challenged when they are done with their regular work. I want to challenge them on their level and beyond by using computer programming to hook them. Coding.
I am fortunate to spend my days with 30 4th graders in a STEM urban magnet school in NC.
We are losing a bit of our STEM focus and I am trying to get us back on track starting with my 30 kids. We have minimal technology for student use and I am looking for ways to add some more technology to my classroom and also engage my students in challenging activities. We are considered a high poverty school yet our students are bright and motivated and ready to learn. The kids all love technology and any lesson that uses it grabs them instantly. Unfortunately, many of our students do not have their own technology and the school does not have enough to go around.
I am going to use these 2 ipads to create a Coding/Computer Programming Station. The kids can use this as an early finisher activity, during morning work time and even as a reward incentive. I would like to use Scratch,Code.org, Khan Academy and Chirp to introduce this concept to my students. I really feel this station would be a great incentive for the kids to work hard and then play hard learning afterwards. I would also use the ipads to teach the kids how to use Google Docs and Google Classroom to submit work and create documents. You would be surprised how many kids can game and search but cannot type or create things for the own learning like brochures or even type a letter. I plan to use these ipads for many activities each and every day in my classroom.
Without your financial help, I will never be able to provide these wonderful technology tools to my students.
Many people have so many devices that they have to choose which one to use at any given moment but not these kids. Most don't have their own device much less have Internet access at home. The kids of today are our future. They need to know how to create and to be innovative. With your help I can introduce these 30 kids to a whole new world. Thank you for donating to my classroom.
