My classroom is a diverse group of students from English Language Learners, military, gifted, special needs, and everything in between. With students curious about the world around them, we provide them resources to develop their potential talents.
My Project
During the school day, students work in many groups. Often in literacy, we think only of reading and writing, but I would like some STEM kits to use during the literacy block of learning during the day. Second Graders will use the STEM kits during centers and record their thinking with the dry erase boards to show how they are tackling a real-life problem using their reading strategies we learned in the classroom.
STEM kits will help students explore the world around them and learn how all subjects are connected in a real-life application.
Students need opportunities to work together and problem solve using critical thinking skills during the literacy block in second grade. The STEM kits are problems based from the stories, and the students need to use real life objects to solve the problem presented in the story.
