Nestled in the Ahwatukee Foothills in Arizona, our public school successfully serves students in grades K-5 by focusing on our mission, which is to inspire confidence, empower each other, respect diversity, reach for knowledge, and achieve academic excellence!
With students, staff, and community dedicated to these common goals, our school has become one of the highest ranking in the state.
In any setting, success doesn't come easily. Hard work and dedication to meeting the individual needs of each and every student that walks through our doors has been key!
I have a diverse mix of 24 students with a variety of academic needs. Two of my students receive special education services, four attend reading intervention, three are benefiting from math intervention and two qualify for gifted services.
Most importantly, the students we serve are like family and the school is our home!
My Project
By using EiE kits, students focus on meaningful, open-ended problems within a global context. These materials will guide my students through the Engineering Design Process by way of fun and creative problem solving. This specific kit allows students to become packaging engineers and their task is to design an "aid drop package" for a community that has suffered from a natural disaster.
My students will learn more about the role engineering plays in their lives and in the world around them.
They will be introduced to real engineering challenges and be asked to design solutions using the Engineering Design Process. I love the fact that all my students, regardless of ability level, will be able to contribute to this challenge! By incorporating science, technology, engineering, and math together, students in my class will be able to work collaboratively alongside their peers to solve real world problems.
