We are a Title I school with 85% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. A lot of our students have a variety of academic and social-emotional needs. We strive on a daily basis to inspire and challenge our students to engage in equitable learning opportunities through inquiry and collaboration across all content areas.
Most of our students have little to no opportunities outside of the classroom to participate in STEM projects, and our annual STEM day has always been an exciting time for our kids.
My students love STEM day at our school and talk about how much fun it is and how much they learn. These science kits will help build better understanding in science and make it fun at the same time. They will help make our annual STEM day more successful. The dinosaur kits will be used with our primary students after a lesson called Discovering Dinosaurs. The rocket launcher kit will be used with our intermediate students after a lesson on force and motion.
Hands-on lessons build a deeper understanding of concepts and students are more engaged in learning.
