My Students
Our school is a Title I school that serves students in high poverty and low economic areas. Most students at our school receive free or reduced-rate lunches and are a part of the targeted assistance programs to help identify students who are at risk for failing state achievements. Most of our students will be the first generation to successfully finish high school or attend post-secondary institutions. Our students are eager to learn but face several challenges, such as being ESL (English as a Second Language) or contributing to their family needs. Students need support and supplies that will provide basic needs throughout the school year. Our students must learn how to be mentally and emotionally prepared for school without the stress of basic school supplies.
My Project
As a Family and Consumer Science teacher, it can be very difficult trying to keep and maintain kitchen supplies. I am slowly trying to update the kitchen one day at a time, it can be very expensive with limited funds. With new equipment, students should be able to focus on the learning objective and finish their assignments without worrying about old, faulty equipment.

We are approaching the cooking unit and we are in desperate need of new supplies.
Currently, we need a new waffle maker, cookware, and baking sets. Family Consumer Science is a STEM classroom environment that incorporates science and math in its curriculum. In this class, students are learning basic cooking techniques for the 21st Century Skills.
