This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as common. With Kindergarten being the foundation for future learning, it is imperative that all children have an opportunity to experience the best!
My students begin the year with very little confidence in themselves and their academic abilities.
As the year progresses, they learn that they can achieve anything by not giving up and believing in themselves. The classroom turns into a safe place where they can make learn, make mistakes, and strive. I feel that providing students with games will provide them with opportunities to love learning through play while teaching them how to work with others. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue a path of academic excellence.
My Project
STEM projects are literally making classrooms go around.
They are prepping and inspiring all students to step outside the box, use their imagination and bring out their creativity.
These STEM materials I have requested will be used at various stations in our centers and special thematic science units. The Mad Matter will allow my students to be creative, use their imaginations and encourage them to explore hands-on opportunities to explore the concept we’re studying or whatever comes to their minds. It will also allow my students to work on their fine motor skills by build strength in their hands through squishing, pushing, pulling, and twisting. The LEGOs and Magnetic Tiles will give my students the opportunity to create structures and encourages students to build and explore repeatedly. These materials will give my students the opportunity to continuing learning after units and the ability to improve their problem-solving skills.
