My students need books about STEM topics like Iggy Peck, Architect and What To Do With a Box, as well as a shelf to store and display our many STEM resources.
My students are a fantastic bunch of kids who have so much potential. More than 3/4 of the students are from low-income households and have diverse social and emotional backgrounds. As we become a family in my classroom, my students need to have supplies that will grow their knowledge so they can be successful learners.
"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world."-Nelson Mandela My students have tons of potential and great ideas.
They are so excited to have new supplies that promote their creativity and help them express their knowledge. The highlight of the week for my students is when we get to pull out the STEM bins. Their eyes light up with excitement and their creativity explodes!
My Project
The STEM books are perfect for my ravenous readers who can't get enough of our STEM resources. These STEM books will provide quality literature on subjects that are interesting to my students. They are so excited to learn about STEM topics and it provokes their thinking as they work with our STEM materials. So many ideas come from their reading! After we read about bird nests, my students engineered some of the best bird nest designs!
"Scientists discover the world that exists; engineers create the world that never was." Theodore Von Karmen.
Speaking of our STEM materials, we also need a shelf to store our STEM supplies so they will all be in the same place. Right now, we have lots of resources for STEM, but they are not readily accessible in a common location to allow for the best creativity.
