This group of second grade students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. My students enjoy math and science lessons most. They love the challenge and have fun problem solving. My students are always looking for a new ‘out of the box’ solution!
My Project
The greatest benefit of STEM is that it fosters that love of learning. Instilling that passion and drive to learn is at it’s most crucial stage during the elementary years. Your donation will help buy STEM kits and supplies. Some examples include Magna-tiles, a vehicle building engineering kit, a create-a-chain reaction STEM kit, Legos, magnets, a marble run master set, Translucent Imagination Builders and Playstix. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. My students work with STEM bins on a daily basis. They are allowed to choose a STEM when they have completed their work. I give my students a weekly STEM challenge. They also have a ‘makers mat’; suggestions for daily projects. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional opportunities to problem solve and to work as a team to find a solution. My students have helped me choose these items and are so eager to get ‘new toys’.
