My Students
Hi Folks, I work in Oakland, CA in one of the most challenged neighborhoods. The students come from backgrounds with real financial and social challenges.
My goal is to facilitate real hands-on skills that eventually translate into the workforce.
Over 90% of the students in our school come from households where English is not spoken in the home. Everyone gets free breakfast and lunch daily.
I am fortunate in that I have support from the administration and a huge classroom with space and power away from the learning area.
My Project
I have fifteen logged hours in a Cessna 172, and I am UAS (FAA Drone Certificated). Our school is in the SF Bay area and less than 2 miles from the Oakland Airport.
The aviation club meets once per week, and I have five desktop computers, but only one copy of X-Plane software.
I need one graphics card and four (4) more software licenses so that five students can learn to fly airplanes at the same time.
Students are allowed to use the computer lab most days at lunch, and my goal is to give students as much exposure as I can in as many vocational areas, that are regionally relevant, as I can.
