Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Denver students come to school every day ready to learn! We read the Magic Treehouse books and the children dramatize the stories with props they have made themselves. Our classroom is filled with joy, laughter, and active learning every day. This is a vital year for them to grow academically and be ready for the following years of school. It is important that they are excited about learning and feel important in our classroom. My students come from a wonderful neighborhood full of community, culture, and language. Many of my students already speak two languages! Although many qualify as low-income they do not let that stop them from giving school everything they’ve got and having fun along the way. I love seeing how much my students change over the year and develop a true love for learning. They are able to create a little family in our classroom with their kindness and support. My students inspire me with their grit, resilience, and perseverance.
My Project
I am looking to buy STEM materials for my students because they absolutely love the few items we have and I love seeing how creative they can be. The magnitiles will be great for building houses, schools, castles, and many other things during dramatization. The legos and playdoh are also great for dramatization because my students will be able to make anything they need in order to recreate the story. I am excited to see what they can come up with using these new materials. I also have storage materials in this project just for keeping our room organized and visually pleasing so that my students feel they have a safe place to come each day.
