I teach a precious, diverse group of students. I love that my students come to school each day eager to learn new things and challenge themselves. They are dedicated to their schoolwork and making teaching fun!
My school is 91.8% poverty, yet my students come to school every day eager to learn and grow.
I adore teaching my students! My students come from a very mixed background socially, ethnically, and economically. Yet, they mix together as a classroom group beautifully.
My Project
I teach 8th grade social studies at a STEAM school. For our American Revolution unit, students brainstorm a possible monument honoring a person or event from the American Revolution. This STEM/STEAM project allows students to opportunity to use their historical knowledge of the Revolutionary War and STEM/STEAM engineering practice. Students will brainstorming and sketch a rough draft of their monument design. After considering the engineering structure of the design and the historical aspect, students will then make a model of the monument.
Students love STEM/STEAM experiences.
The clay, glue, and construction paper will allow them to take their ideas off of paper and make a mini replica of their proposed monument design. Designing and building increases student inquiry and enthusiasm about subjects. I am so excited to introduce this STEM/STEAM project to my students this year!
