My Students

BES students come to school excited to learn. We have students with various needs, learning styles and backgrounds. The students in our community have a great deal of support from parents and teachers. The students benefit from community involvement.

Students at our school are upbeat and motivated by learning.

They value education and are hopeful about their futures and using education to improve their lives and give back in the community as adults. We are excited to use these materials to engage students!

My Project

Sixth grade students will use digital thermometers in STEM and science experiments such as testing water and soil temperatures in our Weather and Climate unit and Matter and Energy unit. The digital thermometers help to compare and contrast soil vs. water temperatures in our Climate unit. We test solids, liquids, and gas temperature in our Matter and Energy unit. We are able to use the thermometers to test the temperature of student-constructed solar ovens. Students test several different materials to engineer ovens and test insulation/heat properties. The digital thermometers are useful and engaging tools for several of the mentioned experiments.
